3rd Annual Garagiste Festival | March 27-29, 2015
Tasting Cutting Edge Small Production Winemakers Wine’s in the Central Valley
GARAGISTES – (gar-uh-zhē-stuh) n, Fr. – A term originally used in the Bordeaux region of France to denigrate renegade small-lot wine makers, sometimes working in their garage, who refused to follow the “rules.” Now a full-fledged movement responsible for making some of the best wine in the world. Who’s laughing now, Francois?Syn: Rule-breakers, pioneers, renegades, mavericks, driven by passion.
I’m looking forward to attending the 3rd Annual Garagiste Festival in Santa Ynez Valley in late March. I wrote a bit about neighboring Paso Robles’s fantastic wines from a recent road trip here. While on my road trip to Paso Robles, I stumbled upon Herman Story Wines a boutique wine maker and heard whisperings of local Garagiste winemakers. So I’m quite excited to attend the upcoming festival. Tickets are relatively inexpensive and start at $55 each day with thirty different wineries available for tasting each day over the Saturday and Sunday weekend. Pretty much a no brainer. While there I’ll be interviewing and creating some films of a few winemakers. If you are a Garagiste with an interesting story and would like to be filmed please get in touch with me.
